Belande J. Pettigrew

Attorney Belande J. Pettigrew is a Senior Associate Attorney at Dietrich & Kenyon, PLLC, where she focuses her practice on helping individuals and families navigate financial hardship through Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy. She is committed to guiding clients through the bankruptcy process with compassion, practical advice, and a clear understanding of the legal options available to achieve a financial fresh start.

Before joining Dietrich & Kenyon in 2022, Belande served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard Garcia and the Honorable Shaunna Dunnings of the 30th Judicial Circuit Court in Ingham County. Her judicial experience provided valuable insight into Michigan’s legal system and strengthened her ability to advocate effectively for clients.

Prior to beginning her legal career, Belande spent fourteen years with Bank of America in a variety of financial services roles. During that time, she worked closely with consumers to help them understand their financial situations, manage assets and liabilities, and make informed financial decisions. That experience gives her a unique perspective on the financial challenges her clients face and enhances her ability to develop practical, personalized solutions.

Belande has practiced law in Michigan since 2020 and has focused exclusively on consumer bankruptcy since joining Dietrich & Kenyon. She is admitted to practice before the Michigan state courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.

Belande earned her Juris Doctor from WMU-Cooley Law School in Lansing in 2015. She graduated as an Honors Scholarship recipient, received the Sol Siegel Award, and earned the Certificate of Merit in Contracts. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Sociology, from the University of South Carolina in 2004.

Belande is a member of the State Bar of Michigan. She lives in Grand Ledge with her family. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, reading, watching sports, and spending time with her family.
